'Anémone Thea rosea' rose References
Book (1936) Page(s) 146. Old Roses Not Classified. Anemonaeflora White, I 1/4 in., petals narrow, forming a flower like a double Anemone nemorosa. No anthers, pistil a short column. Pedicel and hip smooth. Calyx longer, two winged. Leaves in threes, very long pointed like the Banksian, stipules narrow fringed. Wood green, many small bristly thorns and a few large hooked thorns. A little tender, but hardy with me: It makes a curious straggling bush and, as Miss Willmott says, it should be included in every collection of Roses. This curious Rose might well be a Banksian Musk hybrid. Rehdr onsiders it related to Setigera, an American species, but as Fortune found it in Shanghai in 1844, I think it unlikely. Illustration in Willmott's Genus Rosa.
