May.    This month we feature a new release for this winter from the world famous rose breeding family Poulsens of Denmark.  Poulsen roses perform well in New Zealand conditions and other introductions have included ‘Ingrid Bergman’, ‘Hans Christian Andersen’, ‘Sparkler’ and more recent introductions like ‘Silver Anniversary’ and ‘Mum in a Million’
‘Scent by an Angel’ is very much like ‘Mum in a Million’ in growth form, being an tall upright vigourous grower and having a powerful perfume as well, but with a different bloom colour. In this case, the blooms are a rich deep magenta violet pink which are produced in clusters and set against light green foliage. Never without a flower, this variety makes a stunning garden display. Released by Rasmussens Nursery (email rasrose@xtra.co.nz) and available at garden centres around New Zealand, this is a variety worth looking out for.  Photo courtesy Rasmussens Nursery.
