"The Queen of Flowers" By Edwin Lonsdale
Perle des Jardins is still grown as a yellow, but it is not so plentiful as it was ten or fifteen years ago. Its sport Sunset is of a fawn shade of yellow in color and was quite popular for a time, but is now giving way to Sunrise, another sport; the tints and shades are the colors of its parent Sunset very much intensified. This same Sunrise has also thrown sports in at least two places, which are apparently reversions to "Perle,” being yellow. It is, however, believed that at least one of the “reversions” is a brighter shade of yellow than the original "Perle,” which upon further trial may prove to be worth retaining.

Sunrise  Outer petals reddish carmine, shading to delicate fawn and pale salmon within the open blooms of light apricot.  The chief charm of the flower is in the warmer tints that are so apparent as the flowers open and these, coupled with the bronzy foliage, are charming.
