New Roses of Special Beauty.
Virginia.
This elegant new Rose is the result of a cross between M. Niel and Safrano.  We consider it one of the most promising Tea Roses of modern introduction.  It is a vigorous grower, of bushy habit; the blooms are large, double, finely formed, lasting, and of excellent substance, often remaining on the bush until dried up; color light yellow, with a tinge of saffron at the center and reverse of petals a pinkish cast; perfume a delicate and delightful tea scent, similar to that of Marecal Niel, of which it is a pretty miniature.  20 cents.

New Rose, Virginia, introduced last year by The Dingee & Conard Company, was raised by a Mr. Meehan, of Virginia, and sold to them as a new Rose. Being entirely distinct, this is absolutely true. Another house offers Gen'l Robert E. Lee, however, as a new Rose. It, excepting a slight difference in foliage, is identical with Virginia. The question of priority of their introduction is in doubt. Under either name it is a good Rose-far better than many of the New French Roses introduced in late years, but as a yellow Tea Rose it does not compare with Perle des Jardins.-EDITOR.

THE DINGEE & CONARD COMPANY’S
Eight Superb New Roses
INTRODUCED BY THE DINGEE & CONARD CO.
Virginia. See Colored Plate.
This elegant Rose, which we now introduce for the first time, and which we have named in honor of the Old Dominion, is the result of a cross between Safrano and Marechal Niel. We consider it one of the most promising Tea Roses of modern introduction. It is a vigorous grower of bushy habit; the blooms are large, double, finely formed, lasting and of excellent substance, often remaining on the bush until dried up; color a light yellow with a tinge of saffron at the centre, and reverse of petals a pinkish cast; perfume, a delicate and delightful tea scent. It will undoubtedly prove a very desirable and profitable variety for forcing. Price, 50 cents each.
