'Abraham Martin' rose Reviews & Comments

-
In response to comments on this rose the following was received.
The "Abraham Martin" rosebush is the result of a planned crossbreeding between the "Jens Munk" and the "Martin Frobisher" varieties, carried out in 1973 by Felicitas Svejda in the Ottawa facilities of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. In 2003, this variety was re-evaluated and selected by Mrs. Claude Richer (a research scientist with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu) for its growth habit, hardiness, disease resistance, size and colour of blooms and long flowering period. As far as I know it is to be introduced during the 100 year celebration on the Plains of Abraham which occur this summer in Quebec City. I am not even sure where in Canada it will become available. One possibility is Hortico in Ontario.

There seems to be some disagreement on the origin of this rose...
This ‘Jens Munk’ x ‘Martin Frobisher’ was coded F 12 by Claude Richer. This is not the same F12 that Svedja produced, however it was patented as Svedja's. Canadian Artist, derived from 'Jens Munk' & 'Martin Frobisher' (Plains of Abraham website)
"...the 'Abraham Martin' rose is the F12 selection developed by Dr. Felicitas Svejda years ago". Roger Chagnon, ing. Directeur de recherche / Research Manager Agriculture et Agroalimentaire Canada / Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada
