I first encountered this rose in Julian, CA. I brought cuttings to the Huntington, and it was distributed for a while as "Western Art Gallery perpetual Damask". I have also found it in Sonora, CA and Columbia, CA. It was brought to the Sacramento Old City Cemetery Heritage Rose Garden from Elk Grove. It is one of the survivors at old sites.
