S.A.F. Peony Association.
Suzuki & Iida have registered the following peonies with the S.A.F. Peony Association. The new names given are, where possible, translations of the Japanese names; where that was impossible names otherwise proper have been given. The prsent registration is to prevent as far as possible the duplication of names in this country. Heretofore nearly every establishment that bought this Japanese set gave some a set of names of its own. It will readily be seen that this system created endless confusion, and to bring order out of chaos, the Japanese names are appended in brackets to the new ones which have been adopted.

This plant is already well-known to the West. Flowers in May, widely differing in color and form. Stems either shrubby or branched from the foot. The best species are native of central Japan. The flower often attains one foot in diameter. These plants have fanciful names in Japanese, which we give with as nearly as possible the English equivalent.
