Slightly short-pubescent climber; leaves petiolate, twice ternate, the leaflets membranous, petioluled or sessile, ovate to broadly so, 1.5-5 cm. long, 8-20 mm. wide, usually 3-fid, with few irregular teeth, the midlobes of terminal leaflets often elongate, acuminate, the other lobes acute to subobtuse, linear-lanceolate to narrowly ovate; peduncles axillary, solitary, 1- to 3-flowered, 5-10 cm. long, leafy-bracteate; flowers white, about 2.5 cm. across, erect; sepals oblong, white-pubescent outside especially toward the margin; stamens slightly shorter than the sepals, glabrous, the anthers narrowly oblong, 1-1.5 mm. long; achenes broadly lanceolate, about 5 mm. long, spreading-pilose; style yellowish, about 2 cm. long, feathery. - Aug.-Sept. Shikoku, Kyushu. - Ryukyus.
