Origin:
Bred by Modeste Guérin (France, before 1851).
Introduced in France by Modeste Guérin in 1852 as 'Decaisne'.
Class:
Hybrid lactiflora.  
Bloom:
Purple or violet-red, brown highlights.  Vivid, satiny purple or violet-red, brown highlights..  Moderate fragrance.  Large, double bloom form.

Has been confused with Pelé's Decaisne, which was introduced in 1850.
