ARS:
White, near white or white blend Ayrshire.
Origin:
Bred by Joseph Clare (Italy, before 1830).
Introduced in Australia by Thomas Lang in 1866 as 'Ruga'.
Class:
Ayrshire.  
Bloom:
Pink, pink undertones, ages to white .  Moderate fragrance.  Medium, semi-double to double, in small clusters, globular bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles, climbing.  

Height: 20' (610cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Very hardy.  very vigorous.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Different opinions on parentage. 'Ruga' was synonymous with 'Venusta Pendula' in Germany in 1914 - see References.
The drawings of 'Ruga' from 1830 and 1910 are quite different, so that it seems that the rose was mislabeled already at the end of the 19th century.
