Origin:
Bred by Ludwig Weigand (Germany, 1920).
Introduced in Germany by Rosenhof Schultheis e.K. in 1920 as 'Ruhm von Steinfurth'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1922 as 'Gloire de Steinfurth'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual, Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Cerise or cherry-red.  Strong fragrance.  Very large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, pointed buds.  
Habit:
Few or no prickles/thorns, upright.  

Height: 4' (120cm).  Width: 3' (90cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Hardy.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
The rose in Sangerhausen and in commerce seems mislabeled. The colour crimson or lake-red is more like that of the plant in the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden.
