'Sadler's Wells' Beales UK 1983 'Penelope' x 'Rose Gaujard' The newest member of this group [Hybrid Musks]. Makes a fine continuous-flowering shrub. Semi-double slightly scented flowers produced in large, well-spaced clusters on a vigorous but tidy bush. The background colour is silvery-pink, with each petal laced with cherry red, especially at the edges. The autumn flowers are particularly good, when the enriched colouring seems almost impervious to inclement weather. When cut, sprays last very well in water. Foliage is dark green and glossy. (C) (P) (H) (NF) (AL) (Beales 1992, p 229)
Key: (C) [continuous-blooming] (P) [Tolerant of poor soils] (H) [Suitable for hedging] (Tolerant of shade) (NF) (AL) [Availability limited to specialist growers] (Beales 1992, p 115)
The meaning of 'NF' is not given, but may be inferred to be 'not much/negligible fragrance'.

Thank you hmfusr. Added ('Classic Roses' was dated 1985. You have put 1992 - which may be a reprint - but as my Beales 'Roses' is dated 1992, I have used that book as the reference)

It appears this is a new edition for 1992. I had the title wrong; will now edit. It's the one with the white grid and the many blooms on the cover.
