Signe Relander I found this lovely rose today. Apparently Poulsen Roses named it after the spouse of the second President of Finland, Lauri Kristian Relander.

Signe Relander HRg. Good reliable rebloom. Outstanding fragrance.  3.  Poulsen, 1928.  (provenance: Conrad Alexander, OH). Very like 'Grootendorst Supreme' in appearance, with fringed petals, small flowers mindful of old-fashioned clove pinks, deep red.  This however is fragrant, a quality it shares with 'Fimbriata', another dianthus-flowered Rugosa.

Signe Relander 6' x 5'  R. rugosa hybrid x 'Orleans Rose' (polyantha). Poulsen (Denmark) 1928.  In its fringed flower form and in its growth habits, this rose resembles the Grootendorst roses;  however, unlike the Grootendorst roses, 'Signe Relander' offers fragrance.   Small, double blossoms are borne in clusters. Bright deep red.  'Signe Relander' blooms freely and repeatedly.

Signe Relander (1928) Small flowered and semi-double, a medium grower with a noticeable fragrance.  The colour is a bright deep red and the blooms are produced freely.  Not unlike the Grootendorst group.
