E. G. M. Gibson. The Spring Rose Show. Mr. George Russ, a gardener of the old school, and head gardener and demonstrator at the Burnley School of Horticulture, supervised the arrangement by the students of a very creditable exhibition from the school.... Florence Russ, raised by G. Russ, was conspicuously fine in this collection. The blooms are of a delicate pink in the centre, shading to pearly white at the edge and their beautiful form, combined with reflexed petals of splendid texture, makes this an ideal rose for cutting. The foliage is dark green and mildew proof. It blooms right through January when roses are at a premium.

p66 Florence Russ is a rose of pale pink color, with petals of firm texture, having a good shape. It is very free-flowering, and its only fault is a tendency to smallness of bloom. It reminds one of a small compact edition of Madame Jules Bouche.
