p78. Mrs. Rosalie Parsons, Doncaster East, Victoria. ‘Happy Anniversary’ An orange sport of 'Kardinal' and for me it has better form than ‘Pink Kardinal’ which gave me lots of split centres. Here in Melbourne the blooms come early like ‘Kardinal' and I showed both varieties during the first week of October. Five weeks later I had a few early blooms off the second flush for my last show at Alexandra. The perfume is pleasant and they look great in the garden, or with their long stems they also are eye-catching in the vase where they last for ten days or more. An alternative to ‘Corso’ for that orange rose in your garden. 4-5 ft high, petals 35-37.

I was fortunate to trial this beautiful orange red rose as ‘Orange Kardinal’ prior to its release in 2000 under its registered name. It has all the attributes of ‘Kardinal’ that must be one of the best red roses I have grown in 45 years. A bold new coloured rose that does fit into the garden display.
