According to some history records, there was an ancient chinese breed of rose called feng zhuang lou, meaning pink tower, which was likely a pink climber or rambler, and this ancient breed is now lost in china. Clothilde Soupert was introduced to china from japanese market very long ago, I don't know if it was named "feng zhuang lou" in japan or in china, but its aesthetics somehow fits the meaning of feng zhuang lou. For a very long time, because of the naming, people indeed thought CS was an old chinese breed.

p.s. names such as" feng zhuang lou" are considered very ancient styled for modern chinese. This creates confusions with many other roses that are categorized as "old chinese rose" in modern chinese market. Old european bred tea and old HTs that are introduced to china earlier in the last century are usually mistakenly put in this category because of their style of naming.
