I was at Otto & Sons Nursery in Fillmore and they said they did NOT have Garden Director Bartje Miller or Dark Night the alternate name. This was a tour with the San Diego Rose Society.

I got this rose from Armstrong Nursery, Dublin, CA. Kind of mildew magnet in SF Peninsula region. I was surprise by the glossy leaves of this rose didn't resist powdery mildew. Flower is OK if not too much mildew on it. Beautiful in pictures but not recommended rose.

9/21/2012 Still not much improve throughout the summer. Especially our summer is cool, seeing mildew cover all over the bush. Flower color is stunning but small in size.

Most likely, but how are you so sure this is the same rose ?

I asked Jacques Marchand of Star Roses, the distributer.

That works! Thanks.

So, can we assume Star is introducing this for 2011 ?

2012. Edmunds has it a year early.

So noted but now we are sure to get email critically questioning how a rose not yet introduced is offered for sale. Thanks again.

Well, the answer is that all of these nurseries LOVE to have stuff before their competition. It goes in the usual Star wholesale catalog (from which most local garden centers order) in 2012 as Dark Night, (not as Garden Director Bartje Miller). But it is registered for rose shows and the like by the IRAR and the ARS under Garden Director Bartje Miller. Go figure.

Not the first time and certainly wont be the last. Fortunately with help like yours, HMF can make some sense of it all.

This is the same rose as Eddy Mitchell. The correct code name is Meirysett (one s, 2 t's). The patent application is here: http://www.patents.com/Floribunda-rose-plant-named-Meirysett-20100095413.html

Anyway, the HMF listings for Eddy Mitchell and Garden Director Bartje Miller should be combined.

Plants merged - thank you!
