Book (2000) Page(s) 630. Includes photo(s). ‘Will Scarlet’: Arbuste - rouge moyen, remontant. Hilling UK 1948. Sport de ‘Skyrocket’. NRS Trial Ground Certificate 1957.

Book (Nov 1994) Page(s) 175. 'Will Scarlet'. Hilling, U.K. A sport which occurred on a plant of Wilhelm' under my care in 1947 and was introduced in 1950. It is identical to its parent in all respects except colour and scent, and brings to the Hybrid Musk group a splash of real scarlet in some lights. The tone of the petals is pale in the centre, brightening to vivid rose and true "hunting pink" on the freshly open flower, emerging from brilliant scarlet buds. In hot weather a faint suffusion of lilac appears in the centre. It presents a dazzling display and may well be used to link the shrub roses to the Floribundas. As valuable as "Wilhelm' for its winter display of glossy orange-red heps. Delicate fragrance. 6 feet by 5 feet.
