I had previously given a page number as 230; that should have read 280 (of Annales de l'Institut de Fromont' of 1829). Probably it was a description of 'Ayez' ('Hayez'), since that runs from page 279 to 280 in that work.

My guess would be that 'Merati' is not 'Vimerati' (which is probably 'Vimercati') and that both are Casoretti roses. No proof, but Vimercati is a common name in that part of Lombardy (Vimercate being a small town near Milan) and Merati is a similarly though slightly less common name (Merate being a small town about 12 miles from Desio where Casoretti worked). Certainly they are different, the first purple streaked with white on the inside of the petals, and the second being bright pink. Anywat they both occur in the same list of Soulange-Bodin's Institut Horticole de Fromont reports in its Annales for 1829 (p.279 and 230).

We have moved the reference to 'Vimercati'. I agree that these roses are all probably from Casoretti, but it would be good to have some kind of proof (an invoice from Casoretti to Fromont?)
