Origin:
Bred by Robert Brown (Scotland, before 1803).
Introduced in Scotland by Dickson and Brown / Dickson and Turnbull in 1803 as 'Double Light Red'.
Class:
Hybrid Spinosissima.  
Bloom:
Rose-pink, purple shading, lighter reverse.  Edges white when aged.  Semi-double to double, cupped, reflexed bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  Long buds.  
Habit:
Armed with thorns / prickles.  Small foliage.  
Growing:
Can be used for garden.  Hardy.
