Anyone with it able to comment on fragrance?

Noticed it got an award for fragrance in Glasgow and the German Kordes site list it as fragrant....but listed on here as mild, most of the Australian retail sites list it as light fragrance, the Adelaide rose trial site list at as moderate in he 2017 results.

None of the current comments on here mention fragrance. Thank you.

Mine has gotten more fragrant each year. This spring it’s quite fragrant and I can definitely understand why it won awards for it. I would say it’s moderate-strong, and seems to be more fragrant in the heat.

Decent red floribunda with slight fragrance, average for thorns.

Sadly for some reason on it's journey from Germany to my garden someone decided to bud it on to RMV infected rootstock. For something that's only been commercially available any where in the world for less than a decade, pretty disappointing. Wonder if that means all the Australian stock is infected.

I would assume it would depend on who grew your plant. One would expect the plant material would enter Australia clean. There is no sign of RMV on the one plant of Bordeaux in the garden. Try a new plant from a different grower.

From Treloar's. Also I believe all Kordes come in through them being their agent here but not 100% on the business side of that sort of thing.

You are 100% correct that Treloar Roses are the Kordes agent in Australia. There are other growers, such as Wagner Roses, who also bud Kordes roses. My rose also came from Treloar Roses. One would have to assume the RMV was picked up at the budding stage (either root stock or the parent plant used to provide buds). Treloars is a reputable company and any transfer of RMV would have been accidental.

My experience with this rose is limited. So far I see a rose with cast iron constitution combined with features which excites the discerning rosarian. These features include superb old rose form, great color, large bloom size, and a very attractive plant. The rose apparently has been marketed as a landscape rose. I foresee a bright future for this rose in the gardens of rosarians and in exhibition.
