'Bella Rosa' rose Reviews & Comments

Just got a small potted example. So far, the blooms are butter yellow, fading to light yellow with pink edges. The petal count is double to very double - somewhere in the teens - and each of the outer petals is pointed. The foliage is dark green and looks nice. The shrub form, I can't really tell much yet. The blooms have a scent that I would rate as fair to good. It's moderate in strength, and sweet, but not rich and complex. The plant as a whole seems quirky but simple and unpretentious. I have high hopes for this plant to survive in a pot in zone 7A / 6B. We'll see how it does.

Your Italian Ice should survive fine in your zone, the description says hardy to zone 5B. A couple of tips for overwintering pots: Make sure the soil is moist BEFORE the killing frost, roots do better moist when hit with extreme cold. Mulch the pot and place it out of the wind in a sheltered location that continues to get some sun. Huddle groupings of pots together. Water your pots approx once a month, preferably on a warmish, sunny day. Trim any long canes or tie them up, so they don't whip in the wind.

Of the hundreds of cultivars I've grown, I'd rate this #1--as long as you're not an exhibitor. Disease-free at least here in Oakland, CA, incredibly floriferous, top to bottomm symmetrical patio-size plant, fully clothed. Novel yellow-pink color. Even a bit of HT form but alas it has maybe 12 petals.

My container grown plant is not growing symmetrically, it is throwing out irregular long spidery canes, and only blooming on the tips. The initial flush after being potted was rounded, symmetrical, and very pretty, but it's not looking great right now. It's probably just growing irregularly due to its immaturity.

Is this really a shrub? Mine looks more like a tea rose at the moment with a very very very long Kane that’s probably about 3 feet tall with a crown of buds and blooms on it

The description page says 'height up to 13 inches', it looks like your long flowering cane is a good deal longer than that!
