Includes photo(s). ‘Blanchefleur’ = Centifolia… buisson épineux à port souple… feuillage vert clair irisé de gris… boutons au nez rouge, groupés en petits bouquets… fleurs rondes d’un blanc crémeux, rosissant un brin vers le centre. Odorantes et très doubles, elles tentent d’arranger en quartiers leur cœur de pétales menus, tandis qu’au plein épanouissement leurs pétales extérieurs s’enroulent vers l’arrière, formant une sorte de boule élégante…. Approximate translation: Blanchefleur’ = Centifolia… thorny bush with a flexible habit… light green foliage iridescent with gray… buds with red noses, grouped in small bouquets… round, creamy white flowers, turning a little pink towards the center. Fragrant and very double, they try to arrange their heart of small petals into quarters, while at full bloom their outer petals curl towards the back, forming a sort of elegant ball…. This Gallica-Centifolia hybrid is often listed today with the Centifolias; however, earlier references -such as Nomenclature de tous les Noms de Roses - include 'Blanche fleur' with the Gallicas. A profuse early bloom of sweetly perfumed, large, double blossoms, of white, tinged with flesh pink. Moderate, somewhat open growth.

Not a typical form, but obviously a close relative, this rose has a vigorous open habit up to some 5 feet, with very spiny shoots and light green leaves. The flowers have a rather cabbagy appearance, but are nevertheless very attractive in their creamy white, blushing in the centres of newly opened flowers, and with red-tipped buds. The blooms are often quartered and open flat, with rolled edges to the petals.
