Origin:
Bred by Robert Brown (Scotland, before 1803).
Introduced in Scotland by Dickson and Brown / Dickson and Turnbull in 1803 as 'Double Red'.
Class:
Hybrid Spinosissima.  
Bloom:
Rose-pink, lighter edges, lighter reverse.  Early blooming; petal edges whiten with age; hips are abundant, large, black and compressed.  Medium, semi-double to double, reflexed bloom form.  Prolific, once-blooming spring or summer.  Rounded buds.  
Habit:
Tall, armed with thorns / prickles.  Small foliage.  
Growing:
Can be used for garden.  Hardy.  produces decorative hips.
