Magazine (19 Aug 1891) Page(s) 391, Vol 4. Among the newer Roses we find still another Duchess that is very highly recommended, namely, Duchess of Leeds, a Hybrid Perpetual, described as a "highly colored La France", but said to be quite distinct from 'Duchess of Albany'. It is claimed for this Rose, too, that it lasts well when cut; but as this new-comer has not yet been tested to any extent in this country it is too soon to pass upon its merits.
Magazine (9 Aug 1890) Page(s) 317. Duchess of Leeds, as far as I have seen it, seems a good garden Rose, with somewhat the colour of La France, but my acquaintance with it is very slight; perhaps, however, other readers can give information about this new Hybrid Perpetual Rose.
Magazine (5 Jan 1889) Page(s) 7. Among new roses the Garden mentions Duchess of Leeds, a seedling from La France, as possessing its parent’s charactaristic habit of growth and type of flower. The flower is smaller but deeper in color and it is likely to make a pretty garden rose.
