I am currently growing this variety in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in a container (outdoors - full sun / rain) and am surprised that there aren't many more reviews or comments here. There aren't many roses that do well here given the hot and humid conditions all year round; not to mention the monsoon season which brings heavy rains. Phoenix is one of those rare ones to do well here.

The colour of the flowers turn lighter the longer it blooms, possibly due to the weather but this is a small issue given that how tropic-tolerant this plant is!

In terms of disease resistance - it is difficult for me to gauge as I use fungicide (Aliette) and neem oil pesticide. From my experience, given the amount of rain we have in Malaysia during the monsoon - even fungicides cannot fully control BS on some of my other roses but Phoenix is doing relatively well with with zero BS/mildew. It also has a a very bushy form which I love.

For those in the tropics - you should certainly give this rose a try if you want something that is easy to care for.
