Thought I'd hate this rose. I got it on clearance and like it. Its a low BS year, so no comment there. Its a mildew year, and it seems quite fine.
The yellow is just a basic light yellow. Ho-hum. But it has a peach overlay that makes it look rich. The flowers are full, but open decently well for my wet area.
Julia Childs, its parent, is not that great here. Gets too wonky (branches can break from bloom weight and elongated branches) and gets BS. This one seems far more proportioned.
Blooms are pretty fat and substantial. Its easy to visually miss mini-to-miniflora sized blooms. This one is pretty apparent from at least 10' away.
So far, so good.
Comparison: I also own Shining Light, which is very similar, but SL is a little bit more narrow. ED is a fat, round plant. And SL is touched apricot-orange over the yellow, where ED is just touched apricot. Otherwise, quite similar roses.
2019 edit: Shovel pruned it this month. It had downy from May 2018 to September 2018. Absolutely defoliated. It grew well during this, which was funny to watch, but ultimately a deal breaker.
