I received this rose by mistake. They sent the wrong rose.
The red is clearer than Oso Easy Double Red. The bloom form isn't very formal. Rebloom and health seem good. Petals seem to age out decently. While I prefer the color and cluster habit of Milano Kolorscape, Champion Red seems to be more of a shrub and Milano Kolorscape closer to a floribunda. I mention these 3 comparisons because the city seems to have them locally (and Paint the Town), and they're "newish" reds that blue the floribunda and shrub line. Milano Kolorscape reminds me of Lavaglut, but not as dark, without the disease, and way less prickly. Champion Red is probably a decent landscape shrub. Double Red is somewhat close to a floribunda, but I think its the best of the 3 for city planting, because the blooms pop up over the plant for visibility from the street. Not a lot of roses have great street visibility of both individual blooms and color impact. 'Sunshine Daydream' is another that does.
Canyon Road is still my favorite, but it has a touch of red-orange to it, and it is a much larger plant.
0003] The new variety of Rosa hybrida Floribunda rose plant of the present invention was created during June of 2004 at le Cannet des Maures, Var, France, by artificial pollination wherein two parents were crossed which previously had been studied in the hope that they would contribute the desired characteristics. The female parent (i.e., the seed parent) was the `Noawel` variety (non-patented in the United States). The male parent (i.e., the pollen parent) of the new variety was the `Radrazz` variety (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 11,836). The parentage of the new variety can be summarized as follows:
