Rosa maeotica Dubovik (1966) .... Shrub rose of Azov 1-1.5 m in height, with arcuately curved branches; spikes sickle-curved, sometimes almost straight. Average leaves of flowering shoots up to 7 cm in length, bare; stipules are usually narrow with sharp ears; 5 leaflets, elliptical, bare and smooth on both sides. Flowers are usually solitary, less often in inflorescences; pedicels bare 12-16 mm; sepals with well-developed appendages, after flowering rejected to the sides, but do not reach the horizontal position and so remain until the redness of the hypanthes. The columns are pubescent, the head is stigma on the leg. Hypanthias are ovoid or ellipsoidal; nutlets fruit.
Distribution: Widely distributed in the Azov region.
The use of Azov roses: as a vitamin, a good tanning agent, a source of Cholosas [Холосас: a liver drug] , a stock for cultivated roses.
