[From "Some Roses in My Garden", By Helga Brichet, pp. 5-7] In 2002 Girija and Viru Viraraghan travelled to South Africa for a conference and were hosted at the Knox Shaws'. On being asked what they could bring from India for their hosts, they received the reply "the Indian form of the R. gigantea, please!" When the plant subsequently bloomed it turned out to be a surprise seedling from their garden in Kodaikanal, with a goodly number of elegant petals of a creamy, magnolia shade. It was christened "Lady Di's Wedding Dress".
