Origin:
Bred by Jacques Calot (France, 1864).
Class:
Hybrid lactiflora.  
Bloom:
Light shell-pink tinted with cream; edges of guard petals darker.  Mild to strong fragrance.  Large, double, crown bloom form.  Prolific, Late.  
Habit:
Short.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).

Notes:
'Eugénie Verdier' and 'Eugène Verdier' are two distinct peonies, both introduced in 1864 by Calot. They have been much confused in commerce, and the references may reflect that confusion.

In the U.S. (and perhaps elsewhere), 'L'Indispensible' was sometimes sold as 'Eugène Verdier'.
