Leonie Kearney,  Polyantha Roses From the Past.
“Ellie Martin” Another rose given to me to grow with instructions that you just plant pieces and it will grow. This Polyantha is a low grower to around 20cm tall and a very prickly little lady. “Ellie Martin” is a tough survivor bearing tiny balls of mauve pink roses in clusters on an upright bush. It came from a very old garden. Grow it in a container to really appreciate its delicate beauty and enjoy the sweet perfume.

[Ed: Patricia Routley has suggested an ID of Sweet Fairy (1946, Miniature) for this rose; it has the matching mucronate petals. The scent is said to persist when the flowers dry. My plant at Strathalbyn is about 80cm high. It is seed-fertile.]
