Yes, I will contact Burlington Nursery to make arrangements to have 5-6 Grandmere Jenny's propagating the Grandmere Jennys. If you have Berolina, Chondos Beauty, Love's Promise, Royal Dane, Gruss an Teplitz, Dame de Coeur, Grace de Monaco I will gladly pay you for the cuttings (I need 4-5 of each ) and I will make arrangements with Burlington Nursery to propagate them. That way these vintage roses will still be available to the public. If you do not have these roses but know where to find them , there is a rose society in California that has auctions each year, you might try there. I will pay for each rose cutting.

Right now my rose garden is in a state of disorder. I have been having health problems (knees) and haven't given it the time it needs. This Fall I will order in a crew to take out all of the weeds and prune the roses that have survived our water problems. The Irrigation System that services us has once again had problems with their old pipes and my roses have suffered for the second year in a row. This time it was only a month without water last year it was two months. It always happens during the hottest months when the earth dries out and cracks --cracking the concrete pipes. will let you know which of the roses I have when I get thru with the pruning. I do know that I have Chandos Beauty.

Hello:
I am looking for Grandmere Jenny. If you still grow this rose could you possibly root 4 cuttings for me? I am willing to pay $15 for each rooted cutting and will also pay for shipping. Thank you. Margaret Lamb

I really do not have the facilities to root cuttings. When I want cuttings rooted, I usually send them out to either Berling Leong or one of the members of our rose society that is willing to do it.

Hello:
If I buy cuttings can I just mail them to this Nursery and they'll root the cuttings for me?

I certainly would not charge you for the cuttings. You need to call Berling and talk to her about rooting cuttings. If it is OK with her, then I would send her the cuttings.

Hello:
Do you have Grandmere Jenny? If you do and are able to take four or five cuttings, I will be sure to contact this nursery and make arrangements to have the cuttings rooted. Thank you for answering my question.

Actually Berling has Grandmother's Hat listed as for sale at her nursery. Woops, I looked up the wrong rose. I need to find my Grandmere Jenny rose and make sure she is OK. I lost some roses last year during the drought when the main irrigation pipe that services our place broke. We did not have water for August and September. Only the hardy survived. I found out which roses were drought tolerant.

I root my cuttings using good old Mother Nature in the Winter and Spring. I would be happy to root Grandmere Jenny for you this next winter for next Spring. She sure is a beautiful rose. I will talk to members of MDRS that I belong to and see if anyone can root some cuttings before then. I will also ask John Bagnasco if he can root some cuttings along with the others that I am sending him for their annual auction.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my HMF post. I sent it as a "comment" because a lot of the HMF members do not accept private messages. The HMF administrator contacted me and said that if I persisted in using the "comment" button instead of the "private message" button HMF would delete all of my messages that I send. This is so unfair since the HMF members refuse to accept private messages which leaves me with no other option but to go with the "comment" button. Margaret Lamb

Hello jmile:
What annual auction would this be? Are you and Mr. Bagnasco members of a rose society that has an auction of rooted cuttings? I scrolled down the list of roses that John Bagnasco has and see that he has, in addition to the Grand'mere Jenny, many that I would be grateful if he could root two or three of. They are:
Carmel Sunset, Eiko, Empress Michiko, Hagoromo, Hisami, Hidalgo, Hanagasa, Pearl Harbor, Sai-Un, Pillow Fight and Rosalynn Carter. If Mr. Bagnasco takes the above mentioned rooted cuttings to the annual rose auction, I could either pay the regular price your rose society sells the rooted cuttings for or I could stick to the $18 for each cutting. Could you please let me know what you and Mr. Bagnasco decide so that I can get the money ready to send? Thank you. Margaret Lamb

Every year in November the California Coastal Rose Society holds both a silent and a live rose auction. You can look up the date and data about the auction on the California Coastal Rose Society internet site. They also allow you to bid on a rose thru a member of their society. It is truly a great auction.

Hello:
Would I be able to bid if I do not live in the California Coastal Rose Society area? I live in Indiana, can I still bid on the roses you have at your auction? Margaret

Actually I belong to another ARS society. I bid on roses every year. When the time comes for the auction, they post lists of the roses and a contact to bid on the roses.
