Wanaka Station Park is the site of the former homestead of Wanaka Station. In New Zealand, a "station" is a very large farm or ranch. In the 1800s, Wanaka Station was a very large holding owned by the New Zealand pioneer industrialist, Percy Sargood. After Mr Sargood died in 1941, part of the station was bought at auction by his daughter and given to the community by the Wanaka Station Trust in 1977.

Wanaka Station Park contains the remains of the second homestead (both the first and the second homestead were destroyed by fire) and the surrounding large garden which has been restored in recent years. It is maintained as a public garden by the Queenstown Lakes District Council. A feature is a rose arbor containing roses popular in the early 1900s.
