San Jose Heritage Rose Garden

Please help! We are desperately searching for one of these Ralph Moore miniature “Pink Poodle” roses, either to purchase a plant or cutting. This rose has extremely sentimental significance to my wife and a loved one lost and I’m trying to help her replace this little rose.
If you have any this rose in your garden and we can arrange to purchase a cutting, or if you know any possible leads on purchasing one of these, please, please let me know.

I was @ SJHRG last week and saw a disturbing sight. The two budded plants of the rare Hybrid Tea 'Carmen' (Delforge, 1956) were in such decline as to be almost close to death. What is going on, are they not getting watered!?! Only a few years ago they were glorious, established, five foot wide shrubs churning out huge flowers. There are no North American retail sources for this rose, I've searched, so it would be a great shame to loose this beauty to cultivation. Will someone @ SJHRG please save or propagate these plants? Thank you.

I would love to, what do you need? I live in San Francisco and as of yet, have no formal connection to SJHRG. I just ordered a virus indexed Dr. Huey from Vintage before they close and will volunteer to try budding Carmen if SJHRG wants. However, the mother plant still needs to be kept alive before that happens. Better yet, does the garden have any rooted understocks ready for grafting? Own root cuttings on this variety are a no-go per Gregg Lowery.

Hello Benaminh:
Are you sure you have a indexed Dr Huey? I am looking for it also. for assuring its propagation success rate, I'll use either budding, side cleft grafting or bark cleft grafting on to a clean rootstock, to let the indexed bud develop bigger and stronger and then for further propagation.
Can you share a little piece of that indexed Dr Huey for me, either sell me or exchange for other virus free rootstock.

To wrap up this thread; as far as I know, all accessions of Delforge's Carmen at SJHRG are dead as of 09/24/14.

I was at the SJHRG today and was wondering about the identity of an unlabeled rose. I've seen it three times now over the years and it always catches my attention. It is planted between Comte de Chambord and to the left of "P-8-5." It is a tall plant at 7 feet, with semi-glossy medium green foliage. The 4"--5" flowers are blush pink, very full, double, and quartered. Reminds me somewhat of "Royal Blush" but with bigger flowers. Do you have any idea what it is or where I might purchase a plant?

Between P-*-6F you have Pink Fountain at this then Autumn Damask, then Portland Rose, then Comte de Chambord (Mme. Boll?) in my 1999 book of the SJHRG - may have changed since then

I contacted Jill Perry, the curator, and she confirms that it is presently "Unidentified." They are working on getting it a label as such.

Turns out to be Rolf Siever's 'Royal Blush'
