Miriam Wilkins created a new world for those who love old roses.
In the 1970s she organized the Heritage Rose Group in the United States, for those who loved old roses and species roses. The national rose societies had ignored these roses for many years. And it was her work to awaken interest in them that not only created a big audience of them in the United States.
Over the years other countries followed with establishing their own groups: Les Roses Ancienne in France; Heritage Roses Australia and in New Zealand; The Historical Rose group in England and others.
