Ovoid buds, glabrous peduncles, prickly petiole and branches, ovoid-lanceolate foliage, ...serrate, glabrous. W. Jacq. Obs. 3; p. 7; t.5. Rosier fleuri. Enc.
...Rosa asiatica is a native of Bengal and of China, not long ago introduced with us. It is easily distinguished by its foliage which is mostly ternate, the middle leaflet ....and slightly longer. Double and semi-double blooms are seen in gardens, blooming all the year.

....Rosa borraccina [moss rose] is so similar to Rosa turca in its habit, disposition, form and colour of bloom that many considered it simply as a variety of this. Due to the constancy of its branched, glandulous-viscose hairs it can be considered a distinct species. Its homeland is unknown, as is that of the Monthly Rose.

....Rosa sulphurea with double and beautiful blooms when they happen to expand well, which is in fact rare, as the buds regularly break out instead of expanding regularly. It grows naturally in the Levante.

...Rosa turca is believed to be a native of Persia, or some other province of Asia. Poiret says in his encyclopaedia that he saw an example with....blooms at M. Dupont, the famous florist, who had obtained seedlings of the Rosa turca with semi-double blooms; but usually it has double blooms of dark red or pale red.
