Some Roses You Should Meet
(Oct 1999) Page(s) 9. Baby Cécile Brunner Ralph Moore describes this rose as a small (miniature) version of the old favorite, 'Cécile Brunner'. It's a good candidate to grow in a pot.
(Oct 1999) Page(s) 9. Hoot Owl is an older miniature that has been receiving a lot of favorable comments. The plant is bushy and compact with rich dark green foliage. It is free-flowering with 1 1/2" single red flowers with a contrasting white eye and is suitable for a pot or for a border.
(Oct 1999) Page(s) 9. It's Showtime is classed as a hybrid tea, but it's really a cross of a Miniature ('Joycie') x an older Tea Rose ('Bon Silene'). It is a vigorous, upright plant that grows like a hybrid tea to four feet or more. Sequoia Nursery sold this variety to Spring Hill, so please check with them about availability.
(Oct 1999) Page(s) 9. Rountuit Hybrid Rugosa... a Miniature x Rugosa cross having small blue-green foliage and very double rose-pink flowers in clusters... It needs so little attention that it has been called "the lazy man's rose." Mr. Moore recommends fertilizing it sparingly, trimming it if and when you get around to it!
