From the newer climbers is the Hybrid Wichuraiana 'Fräulein Octavia Hesse' probably one of the most interesting and worth to become more known. She descends from a cross of the Wichuraiana with Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria. The branching from the graft point is good and the slim, pencil-thick, up to 3 meter long canes, seem to make it especially suitable for covering arbours etc. The firm, grass-green, glossy foliage which covers the shrub fully is beautiful. According to my observations, in the neighborhood of the mildew-ridden Tausendschön, she is not spared from this fungus...

You published an article in the Rose Issue on the new rambler Fräulein Octavia Hesse introduced by me. Not mentioned in this article is a special characteristic of this rose, namely the sweet....

I have made the trial in a similar climate with 'Nordlandrose 2 of Geschwind. These thrive magnificently. Even as a three-year old plant they surpassed two meters length. They do not need a climbing support or similar.

No. 8 came from the following cross: Pierre Notting was crossed with Safrano. The resulting best seedling was crossed with the seedling Mad. Bérard x Persian Yellow, resulting in the seedling No. 8 "Les Rosati". The plant grows very vigorously and is healthy, only the color reminds of the Lutea descent, the character only little. The color is rich, the petals are capuchin yellow, the upper edge red; a peculiar color.

Martha Keller, descending from Bébé Leroux and Helene Videnz, is a good sort for cutting. She has a very beautiful dark red colouring and is valuable in all respects.
