(1979) Page(s) 138. In retrospect it is unfortunate that 'Dr. Eckener's' sport, Golden King (1935) wasn't...preserved. It was trained on wires below and at the sides of two windows where its luminous primrose-yellow flowers glowed with enhanced radiance against rose-red bricks while its delicious scent flowed into the room.
(1979) Page(s) 85. 'Matador's' parent Zorina is a cross between a 'Pinocchio' seedling and 'Spartan'. 'Zorina' was introduced in 1963 and quickly disappeared from catalogues. It appears to be a sleeper that has little effectiveness in the garden yet is of value as a parent. It turns up in several recent crosses in addition to 'Matador', chiefly in the delectable 'Faberge' and less successfully in 'Charisma'.
