African Journal of Biotechnology Vol. 10(22), pp. 4524-4531, 30 May, 2011 Feng et al. ‘Zizhi’ was a hybrid of Rosa davurica Pall. and Rosa rugosa cv. "plena” (Tang, 1994), making their morphological and biological features quite different from the traditional Chinese R. rugosa cultivars.
Amaranthine branches, amaranthine flowers with more six-whorled petals, and multi-seasonal flowering, its young shoots are lack of punctures.
The article includes a list of 30 "Rugosas", 5 wild accessions and 25 cultivars. 'Zizhi' is the only one noted as being "multi-seasonal flowering".
