Hi John,

I just recent read your HelpMeFind article ("Which Wichurana?") and have a question that I hope you can help me with.

My great grandparents (Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Starnes Crow) moved to Helena, Arkansas, in 1951 from Greenwood, Mississippi. When they moved, my great grandmother brought with her a rose that had been growing at their Greenwood for at least 25 years prior to the move. I believe it might be one of the "old fashioned ramblers" that you were talking about and I was hoping you could please help me identify it.
It puts out very long shoots that I have trained to ramble over the front porch of my daughters' playhouse and has an abundance of creamy white blooms with a slight yellow center. I am attaching a couple of pictures to try to help with the identification. I hope this is not any trouble for you and I sure do hope to hear from you soon!

Thank you so much!

Hi Laurie,
You have me INTRIGUED and excited! Several notions as to its ID pop into mind when I read your description. I did not see your attached pics but will look again as I am a newbie with posts. But feel free to e-mail them directly to me at: JohnAStarnes @ msn.com
Thanks...this will be fun working with you on trying to make several possible tentative IDs! John Starnes

Hey John!
Thanks so much for the reply! I did go ahead and send the pictures to your email address. Sure hope they get to you in good form. But if you didn't get them or the email, will you please let me know?
I'm so glad that you're excited about taking on the identifcation project. Ever since I've known this rose, I've just called it the "Greenwood Rose" since that's where my family connection with it originated. It will be fun to know what it really is!
Thanks again for your help and I'm looking forward to talking to you again!

Laurie

HelpMeFind thanks John - again - for his article and invites you to post your comments or questions here too. Maybe if enough of you post comments, we can entice John into contributing every month.
