p33 In 1963 Woman’s Day launched an Australia-wide competition by an Australian-raised rose….. The competition also produced the beautiful Hybrid tea rose ‘Madge Elliot’ raised by Dr. Roger Darvall of Carlingford, Sydney, who withdrew his entry because of a technicality. ‘Madge Elliot is a delicate shade of apricot pink.

In 1963 Woman’s Day launched an Australia-wide competition for an Australia-raised rose, which was won by Mr. Fred Armbrust of Brisbane. It was a Hybrid Tea rose, matured into a neat flower with terracotta colouring.
