[From Rosenjahrbuch, 2018, p. 98:] Herman Berger...died 1980, 40 years old, from a heart attack. Mrs Gudrun Drube, Horticultural engineer, who worked with him since 1978 took over the Management of the Section Breeding [of the GPG Roter Oktober]. She was significantly involved in the creation of a lab für meristem propagation. She also tried to effect mutations by gamma radiation on rose bud tissue. These experiments were unfortunately not very successful. Gudrun Dube/Grosse (b. 1938) 13 varieties obtained
