Hermann Albrecht Hesse (November 14, 1852 - February 13, 1937) established his tree nursery "Herrm. A. Hesse Baumschulen" in 1879 north of Weener on the Ems river in Northern Germany. He was succeeded in 1919 by his nephew Otto Luyken (November 4, 1884 Siegen - February 3, 1953 Weener), in turn by Wolfgang von Cölln. The nursery was discontinued in 1993. In 2012 the area was converted into the Hessepark Weener.
