William H. Gratwick III (1903-1988) [From The Tree Peonies by John C. Wister & Harold E. Wolfe, 1955, p. 23:] During the past three or four years, William Gratwick has been making many crosses using Professor Saunders' named (and some numbered) hybrids. He has collected and planted from these crosses some seeds that appeared to be good. The results have been disappointing thus far. Perhaps we shall hear more of these in a few years.
