How do I order a Pinocchio rose from a breeder? This is my first time using this site.

Hello Janice.
The only place I know of that has this rose available for custom rooting is Vintage Gardens Antique and Extraordinary Roses. I searched this out some time ago because I thought that the one I had was not going to come back from a bad winter. It did make a come back for me thankfully. It was my mom's first rose and it's been in the garden here for 53 years now.

Thank you for your kind reply. I have ordered roses from Vintage Gardens in Sebastopol CA in the nineties. Is this the breeder you meant? I got three Pinocchios but it took nearly two years to get them, as Vintage did not have any available--these had to be rooted. It took long but the wait was worth it. My three Pinocchios were so lovely. In 2000 we moved to Vancouver BC for seven years and of course I could not take them across the border. Now we are in Edmonds WA and I am looking to plant some as soon as possible. I did call Vintage yesterday, but they have none available currently. So they told me to try this website. No luck. So, thanks for your very caring remarks. The Pinocchio was "my" very first rose. My grandmother and grandfather were apple ranchers in the Wenatchee Valley. Grandmother had many roses in her huge rose garden. "My" rose was always special to me, as was Grandmother. Now I am a grandmother with a grand daughter. I truly will sit and cry with joy when I have a Pinocchio growing in the gardens here at our new home back in Washington State. I think from your remark about the longevity of yours, you understand how some of us grow up with certain roses and other garden plants. Blessings on all your blooms! JK

Yes, that's the one I mean. It's the only place I found it and only as a custom root. If you go to their website and look it up you can request to have them notify you if it becomes available. I have already done that as I would like to have another one and unfortunately I'm hopeless at rooting cuttings. You know though, I just thought of some place else you could try if you are good at rooting. UC Davis has a web site and they offer cuttings of virus indexed roses for rooting. Here's the address http://fpms.ucdavis.edu/ you can try there and see if they have Pinochio. I hope this helps. It's nice to know that some one else is sentimental about Pinocchio too. Happy Gardening to you.
