I realize roses can vary greatly from one climate to another, but everything about this flower is very "off" for I Zingari. I am personally very intimate with I Zingari. I collected it from Rose Hills in California and distributed it to California nurseries to get it back into commerce back in the early 1990s. This flower has a completely wrong flower shape; too many petals of the wrong shape; with far too much bluish-pink. The previous photos posted by Singularly Beautiful Roses are of the correct rose.

Cette rose m'a été envoyée par Winterliesel, qui elle même l'a fait venir de Sangerhausen...
Elle même possède la même qui est issue de la même souche.
C'est vrai que la forme est un peu ronde et ne correspond pas complètement à la description de "semi-double". La couleur me semble correcte, en août toutes les roses ici ont un coloris plus soutenu.
Par ailleurs, les épines sont rouges vif et le feuillage vert foncé. Il est donc très difficile d'être certain de l'identité de cette rose qui nous a été adressée sous le nom de I Zingary.
Il est très compliqué d'importer des roses des Etats-Unis en Suisse, mais si vous voulez m'aider à obtenir les dernières roses de Pemberton qui manquent encore à ma collection, ce serait avec grande joie ! (actuellement il me manque encore Sammy, et le "vrai" I Zingary !)

HI Cornelia, I understand. The rose in question is definitely not one which even slightly resembles I Zingari in the US. Unfortunately, I no longer grow the rose. With the increasing water prices and restrictions, I limit myself to those I wish to use for my own rose breeding and the seedlings I create. I have previously been able to get wood to Bierkreek in The Netherlands, but I don't know how their import restrictions may have changed in the past year since my last shipment.
Unfortunately, it appears I Zingari may be rapidly slipping back into obscurity here in the US, also. Of the three gardens listed as growing it, one is no longer active as I believe the person is deceased. The second is tenuous, at best, and the final is the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden which still lists it as growing there. The only US source is ceasing operations and no longer has the rose available for sale. I wish I could be of more help. I simply don't have access to I Zingari any more. It was long ago removed from the Rose Hills Rose Garden when Dr. Tommy Cairns created his Rose Hills Rose Trials. All of the historic plantings were destroyed to make room for his trials.

J'ai malgré tout commandé I Zingary chez 16-Eichen en Allemagne, mais disponible en 2015 ! je pourrais alors les comparer réellement.

You're welcome Cornelia. Contact 16eichen to inquire what the source of their I Zingari is. If they received theirs from Sangerhausen, you have already compared it. Why waste the time, money and room? I am attempting to track down bud wood of the I Zingari here in the US. If I can get it started, I will investigate what is required to get it into Bierkreek, if they are interested.

( 16-Eichen m'a confirmé que leur rose vient de Sangerhausen Toutefois, leur photo correspond bien à la description de "semi-double", ainsi qu'au coloris)
Tout cela est très passionnant et j'espère vivement que ces démarches vont aboutir !

je serais heureuse de pouvoir continuer de faire revivre les rosiers du révérend Pemberton: sur la liste des Rosiers recherchés je n'ai que I Zingary et The Adjudant : ces rosiers sont des boutures que j'ai reçus de Winterliesel!
Mais je vois que I Zingary est maintenant aussi commercialisé.
Malheureusement, ces rosiers Hybrides de Thé sont chez moi très faibles et sujets aux maladies. Pour l'instant il m'est très difficile en l'état actuel d'en faire des boutures. peut-être l'année prochaine.
J'espère que tu peux traduire ce message et que tu donneras des nouvelles de tes recherches ! Je me suis passionnée pour les rosiers du révérend Pemberton et ai fait beaucoup de recherches pour trouver ceux qui vivent encore, tout comme Winterliesel

Hi, Could you tell me if your Spirit of Freedom, Eglantyne and Cl. Eden repeat and how often, how is the fragrance, how is the blackspot and what zone are you in? Also, will they ball up and not open in heat and humidity. I am in zone 7, one hour outside NYCity so we have hot and humid summers. thanks so much, terry

Spirit of Freedom est nouveau, planté en 2005/2006, je ne peux pas encore dire comment il sera.Il a bien passé l'hiver et maintenant commence sa végétation... A suivre !Eglantyne est fidèle et magnifique, fleurit tout l'été . Eden Rose aussi très florifère tout l'été, petit grimpant hauteur 2-3 m. et vraiment superbe ! Il est plein soleil contre un façade à l'Ouest. Tout à fait à recommander !Je suis en zone 5-6, aussi très sec ou très pluvieux selon les étés ! Vraiment désolée de ne pas pouvoir correspondre en anglais ...Bon succès dans ton choix ... dis-moi quel est ton choix ! As-tu aussi un jardin sur Help me find ? Meilleures amitiés |

Eglantine had been a very good garden rose for me. It is always the first one to bloom in the Spring and blooms well into the Fall. It hasn't balled for me at all, even when the humity is high. It's had no powdery mildew and very little black spot. I'm a minimalist with spraying, once in the Spring as the roses leaf out and then when a problem appears. Best of Luck |
