This is the rose in commerce here in Europe as "Odorata". My plant came from Walter Branchi, and it's almost identical to "Spice". Planted in 2005, it's now a huge mound of leaves, little branches and dainty flowers, to 2 meters high and 4 meters wide (7' x 13").
Maybe the most floriferous rose I have, and one of the most fragrant: the scent is fruity and spicy, and it's overwhelming! Evergreen and always in bloom.

I've never read reports about Mermaid hips in books or websites...
This year my plant produced a good amount of bright orange hips.
