I just ordered this rose. I am in zone 5a, near Chicago. Any idea how large I can expect it to get? I really hope I will be able to peg it or attach it to a trellis.

How is your Ferdinand Pichard doing? I like mine very much. It's is small, but it's in a container. I live in Santa Cruz CA, the fog is hard on some roses, but he seems happy enough here.

Wow, I am floored and so jealous, I really, really wanted my Ferdinand Pichard to grow well, but it may not even make it past its first season. It was such a gorgeous band in spring and early summer and seemed to rebloom wonderfully, but once the blasting summer heat struck, I could not get any vitality out of it. I have to water it every single day or else it keeps shedding leaves. And I don't have time to do this. Too many roses to take care of so, once every other day is the best I can do. Thus, FP is constantly at a Naked state. Distant Drums is planted right next to FP and continues to send up fresh foliage, fresh leaves all the while FP sits there and croaks out on me! :( Distant Drums is far tinier of a plant and yet it can keep reblooming prolifically.

It's unfair for me to rate FP because it doesn't have a chance in heck in my garden climate as a band, but it's important to warn others that this is not a heat tolerant rose. But the fragrance is truly wonderful! Smells like damask and raspberries. I love the color too! But it only bloomed twice. When it started getting super hot late June, no more blooms.

Thanks for stating "no color enhancement". Beautiful rose. Similar to Blue Nile, but a bit pinker in places. Shape appears a bit different. Blue Nile is a bit more urn-shaped as I remember.

Wow, I love how the light shines through some of the petals, and the shadows of other petals behind them, and the water drops on the leaves. Excellent photo.
